Julia Christie, ASW

Associate Clinical Social Worker

Julia Christie believes that individuals can grow from their greatest challenges and uncertainties. She centers her clients’ wishes for the therapeutic process, while cultivating a joint, careful attention to feelings, signs from the body, dreams, patterns of behavior and thought, and memories. Julia is sensitive to the courage it takes to share with another or to make closer contact with one’s suffering and its sources.

Julia takes seriously the ways that social forces inform one’s experiences and is committed to providing a space where individuals feel able to explore their relationships to history, culture, and identity. Her practice integrates psychodynamic, relational, mindfulness, and trauma-informed practices. This approach empowers individuals by nurturing awareness, a more trusting relationship with oneself, and a greater sense of choice and freedom.

Julia received her Masters in Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work. She completed a two-year postgraduate fellowship in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Reiss Davis Child Study Center and the One Year Program at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies. She has trained additionally at the Center for Reflective Communities, the Anti-Violence Project, and in Child-Parent Psychotherapy. Julia has offered psychotherapy in school, wraparound, outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and inpatient settings.
